Cheese Balls

Moving often involves many unexpected or last minute visitors and/or new neighbors. Take the time to enjoy their visit. It is always nice to have something on hand to prepare for these welcome guests. Cheese, fruit, crackers and a nice bottle of wine is always a welcome sight.

I choose the following recipe because you may prepare this appetizer in advance and store it in the refrigerator. Once your guests arrive, take time to be in the moment with them. Sit down and enjoy their company. Your list of to-do’s, no matter how long will wait for your return.

The Sunflower Ball

1 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
1 t. Dijon mustard
½ t. garlic powder
2 T. white wine
1 4 oz. can ripe olives, chopped
2 c. cheddar cheese, shredded
2 T. minced parsley
½ c sunflower nuts

In food processor combine cream cheese, mustard, garlic powder and wine until smooth. Add olives, cheese and parsley, do not over process. Form into ball and wrap in wax paper and place in a plastic storage bag. Chill. When ready to serve, remove from bag and wax paper and roll in sunflower nuts.
